Our Expertise
Charities
Fletcher Jones has a wealth of experience within the charities sector, including independent schools and national charities.
Below is a small selection of case studies highlighting our experience.
Rector
One of the largest, most prestigious and most successful independent co-educational schools in the UK, approached Fletcher Jones following the departure of their Rector. The brief was to appoint an experienced, high-calibre successor who would build upon the developments of recent years.
The role would include overall responsibility for the academic achievement and operational management of the school, supported by and working closely with the Bursar and Senior Management Team.
The successful appointee needed to have in depth knowledge of the Scottish educational system and beyond, as well as being aware of the requirements, challenges and opportunities for the independent sector.
Given the nature of the appointment, it was important to reach the maximum number of those who might be attracted by this challenging position. We went for a composite approach: targeted advertising in the appropriate media, supplemented by some direct, but discreet approaches. After an extensive interview and selection process, the school appointed a new high-calibre Rector.

Chief Executive
Our client, a prestigious and internationally renowned Charity, wished to appoint a dynamic new Chief Executive to play a key part in leading their future growth and development.
Reporting to the Trustees, the candidate would have responsibility for the management and efficient operation of all five Trusts, including controlling and reporting on budgets and contributing to strategic direction. The role would also involve identifying potential beneficiaries and assessing grant requests, and developing strong contacts and partnerships both locally and internationally.
Having carried out an extensive interview programme, following an advert in the press and targeted approaches, a successful candidate was appointed to the post.

Head of Victim Service
Our client, the largest independent provider of free services to people affected by crime, funded primarily by the government and local authorities, wished to appoint a high-calibre individual to join their senior management team.
Working closely with the Chief Executive and senior volunteers, the candidate would be responsible for the Victim Service's delivery, performance and quality assurance as well as having responsibility for the operational and project staff throughout Scotland. The role would also involve developing strategic goals for service delivery which would then be translated into effective operational practice.
The successful appointee ideally had to have the knowledge and experience of the voluntary and criminal justice sectors, along with the vision, energy and intellect to provide inspirational and supporting leadership within a non-profit making environment.
After an extensive interview and selection process, a successful candidate was appointed to the role.
